Expansion Project

Saranam has operated at our current 24-unit campus on the east side of Albuquerque since 2005. Since 2015, we have been planning a second site to increase the impact we can have on ending family homelessness. We committed to a $4.5 million capital campaign project to develop a 3.5-acre property next to the Mesa View United Methodist Church west of Montano Road and Coors.

Like our east side location, this property provides easy access to many necessities for our clients: safety, public transportation, grocery, childcare, and other services. The bus lines run nearby for easy access to the UNM and CNM campuses.

The concept design for the expansion project includes 25 small homes, a playground, a gathering space, a community garden, and parking. The 3.5-acre space will also include classrooms, storage, and office space.

“Two years ago I served on Saranam’s scalability task force. The data made it clear the number of families who qualified for and could benefit from Saranam’s program far exceeded the number the current facility could serve. Even before today’s economic challenges, expansion was in the best interest of our community.” – Saranam community supporter
