Adult Basic Education – Reading, Writing, and Social Studies Instructor (Contract)
Provides foundational reading, writing, and social studies instruction for adult learners in preparation for HSE and/or post-secondary education. Semester topics include reading for pleasure and information, writing narratives, essays and research papers, understanding historical events in US History, and a review of US economics, geography and civics. This class will give students tools and strategies to help them meet their individualized educational goals. In coordination with the Education Coordinator, the instructor facilitates lessons using Saranam curriculum and maintains a safe learning environment supportive of adult student educational progress. Adult Life Skills – Parenting Instructor (Contract) at FTA Campus
Provides foundational instruction for adult learners designed to enhance their parenting skills. The coursework is designed to engage students in becoming a more effective parent or caregiver. Semester topics include identifying family values, stages of child development, developing empathy, and identifying and effectively responding to children’s needs. This class will give parents tools and strategies to help them meet their individualized goals. In coordination with the Education Coordinator, facilitates lessons using Saranam curriculum and maintains a safe learning environment supportive of adult student educational progress during the first semester of Saranam educational programming. Provides foundational instruction for adult learners designed to provide a framework for Saranam parents to establish priorities and goals for the next two years, as well as strategies to succeed in achieving those ends. Topics include time management, organizational skills, study skills, test taking strategies, note taking techniques, goal setting, financial planning, and household management. This class aims to prepare students for more college and future vocational success by establishing a sustainable work-life balance and cultivating useful habits to ensure short and long-term stability in the home. Adult Life Skills – Effective Communication (Contract)
Provides foundational life skills instruction for adult learners designed to assist students to become a more effective communicator. Being a leader of a family and a leader at work requires students to develop skills that are practiced daily. The lessons during this first semester class are focused on exploring basic communication principles in interpersonal relationships. In coordination with the Education Coordinator, this instructor facilitates lessons using Saranam curriculum and maintains a safe learning environment supportive of adult student educational progress during the first semester of Saranam educational programming.
